No updates needed between seasons. The app detects the new season automatically each August and fetches the full fresh fixture list — off-season it shows the completed final matchweek.
The app silently checks for new releases on launch. When one is available, a banner appears inside the popup with a direct download link — no manual checking needed.

Pick your team once — the menu bar keeps you informed without you doing anything.
The star button sits in the top-right corner of the popup header. Tap it to open the team picker — a scrollable list of all 20 Premier League clubs with their crests.
The selected team is highlighted in gold. The popup closes automatically and your preference is saved — it persists across restarts.
The status bar switches from a plain ⚽ to a live summary. It shows your team's abbreviation, their opponent, and either a countdown or the live score depending on the situation.
Re-open the star picker and tap a different club, or tap "Remove favourite" at the top of the list to go back to the plain ⚽ icon.
What you'll see in the menu bar
The countdown updates every minute automatically. During a live match it refreshes the score every 60 seconds.
All kick-off times are automatically converted from UTC to wherever you are. Here's how they appear throughout the app.
Fixtures are grouped by day. The header shows the full weekday name, date, and month so you always know which day you're looking at.
Matches that haven't started yet show the local 24-hour kick-off time in the centre column. Kick-offs are in your Mac's current time zone.
Once a match is in progress or finished, the time is replaced by the score. Live scores are shown in red; final scores in the default colour.
When the next match is more than 24 hours away, the status bar shows a short day name and the local kick-off time so you know exactly when to tune in.
Within 24 hours of kick-off, the countdown switches to hours and minutes remaining, updating every minute.
Under an hour to go, the display simplifies to just minutes. You won't miss kick-off.

EPL Menu Bar is free and built purely out of love for the game. There's no subscription, no ads, no catch. Just a solo developer who gets unreasonably excited watching scores tick over in the menu bar on a Saturday afternoon.
If this app saved you from refreshing the BBC Sport page for the hundredth time, or made a midweek match feel a little more accessible — a small Ko-fi goes a long way. It doesn't just cover a coffee; it genuinely makes my week. Knowing someone out there found this useful enough to say thanks is the kind of thing that keeps a side project alive.
